Job summary

Quarles & Brady LLP is seeking a talented lateral associate with 4–7 years of experience to join our Technology Licensing, Data Privacy and Security team. The position is open to any of our office locations under a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities include advising on privacy and cybersecurity laws, drafting technology agreements, data protection addenda, and IP/licensing strategies, plus incident response, regulatory reporting and AI governance work.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 4–7 years of substantive experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or information governance at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating technology-related agreements and advising on privacy compliance programs.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client matters and work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity laws and emerging AI governance frameworks.
• Counsel on data asset management strategies and privacy program development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of technology and commercial agreements.
• Draft and review data protection agreements and privacy provisions in transactions.
• Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing strategies.
• Lead and support incident response, breach investigation, and regulatory reporting.
• Advise on AI governance and responsible deployment and risks.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and data mapping for regulated industries.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on obligations and enforcement trends.
• Collaborate across practice areas to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to client-facing thought leadership.
