Job summary

Quarles & Brady LLP seeks a talented lateral associate with 4–7 years of experience to join our Technology Licensing, Data Privacy and Security team in Denver. The position is open to any office location on a hybrid schedule.

The role involves advising clients on privacy laws, drafting and negotiating sophisticated technology agreements, and guiding AI governance, data protection, and incident response programs across industries.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• 4–7 years of substantive experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or information governance at a law firm or in-house.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating technology-related agreements and advising on privacy compliance programs.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client matters and work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal, state, and international data privacy and cybersecurity laws.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of technology and commercial agreements (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, licensing, IT services).
• Draft data protection agreements and addenda for corporate transactions.
• Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing across industries.
• Lead incident response efforts, including breach investigation and reporting.
• Provide guidance on AI governance and related regulatory risks.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and risk analyses.
