Job summary

Quarles & Brady LLP seeks a talented lateral associate with 4–7 years of experience to join our Technology Licensing, Data Privacy and Security team. The position is open to any of our office locations under a hybrid work arrangement in the Tampa area.

You will advise clients on privacy compliance, draft and negotiate technology agreements, and lead data protection initiatives across industries, including AI governance, incident response, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission.
• 4–7 years of substantive experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or information governance.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication abilities; capable of managing multiple matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on data privacy and cybersecurity compliance, including regulatory matters.
• Counsel on data asset management and privacy program development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology and commercial agreements (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, licensing, development, IT services).
• Draft data protection addenda and privacy provisions in transactional agreements.
• Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing across sectors.
• Lead or support incident response, breach investigations, and regulatory reporting.
• Advise on AI governance and responsible deployment risks.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and risk analyses.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assist with inquiries and enforcement actions.
• Collaborate across practice areas and contribute to thought leadership.
