Quarles & Brady LLP seeks a talented lateral associate with 4–7 years' experience to join our Technology Licensing, Data Privacy and Security team in a hybrid capacity across our office locations, including Naples. The role focuses on data privacy, cybersecurity, data asset management, and broad technology agreements.

Candidates will draft, review, and negotiate SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, DPAs, and IP licensing while guiding AI governance, incident response, and regulatory reporting in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 4–7 years of substantive experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or information governance.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating technology-related agreements and advising on privacy compliance programs.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client matters and work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity laws and AI governance frameworks.
• Counsel on data asset management strategies and privacy program development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology and commercial agreements including SaaS, licensing, IT services, outsourcing, and NDAs.
• Draft and review data protection agreements and DPAs in transactional agreements.
• Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing strategies across sectors.
• Lead and support incident response, breach notification, and regulatory reporting.
• Advise on AI governance and associated legal risks.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and risk analyses.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on emerging obligations.
• Collaborate across practice areas to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to client thought leadership through alerts, webinars, and speaking engagements.
