Job summary

Raytheon in Aurora, CO, is seeking a System Safety Engineer to develop MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs and perform hazard analyses for complex defense systems across the lifecycle.

An active DoD Top Secret clearance is required from day one, and you will coordinate with customers, engineering teams, and safety boards while documenting findings in formal reports. This onsite role offers challenging work protecting warfighters and supporting national security.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with System Safety Engineering and/or Software Safety Engineering.
• Experience with complex systems and evaluating them for risk.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform analyses.
• Coordinate with customer safety representatives to allocate safety tasks.
• Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing safety reports.
• Support safety throughout program lifecycle from startup to disposal.
