Job summary

Raytheon is seeking Senior System Safety Engineers for onsite roles across Woburn, Marlborough, Andover, Tewksbury, or Portsmouth RI. The role focuses on system safety program development, hazard analyses, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with Systems Engineering, Software, Electrical, and Hardware teams.

Applicants must have a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience and a DoD security clearance. The department is Raytheon’s System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI).

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and analyses.
• Conduct hazard and design analyses to meet requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with customer safety representatives and Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approval.
• Lead System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer representatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to eliminate hazards or implement controls across disciplines.
• Provide lifecycle safety oversight from startup to disposal phases.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing system safety analyses and program status.
