Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer for onsite roles located in Woburn, MA, Tewksbury, MA, Marlborough, MA, Andover, MA, or Portsmouth, RI. The position focuses on developing and executing MIL-STD-882E system safety programs, hazard analyses, and safety approvals for DoD-grade products.

The role requires a STEM degree with at least 5 years of related experience, collaboration across engineering teams, and proficiency in safety documentation. U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and analyses.
• Coordinate with customer safety representatives to clarify requirements and ensure safety approval.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to eliminate hazards or implement controls.
• Provide lifecycle safety oversight from startup through disposal phases.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing system safety analyses and program status.
