Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to lead high-voltage substation design across critical infrastructure projects in the United States. You will act as a technical SME, mentor engineers, and drive innovation while ensuring safety, quality, and reliability from concept through construction.

Remote work within the United States is possible, with preferred hybrid options near listed offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 15+ years of experience in Substation physical design engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license mandatory.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Design power utility substations using applicable codes and client standards.
• Design ground grids and lightning protection plans.
• Perform AC/DC load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
• Develop equipment specifications, scope, and cost estimates.
• Create conceptual designs and facility layouts for planning studies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure project success.
• Lead client meetings and site visits; oversee QA/QC processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and review calculations, drawings, and specs.
