Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to lead high-voltage substation design across projects that power communities and critical infrastructure. You will drive technical excellence, develop innovative solutions, and mentor junior engineers from concept through construction.

The role supports remote work within the U.S., with preferred availability for hybrid schedules near office locations, including Lake Mary, FL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of high-voltage substations to client standards.
• Develop general arrangement, layouts, grounding, and equipment details.
• Create equipment specifications and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and review calculations and drawings.
• Ensure QA/QC across engineering design packages.
