Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer in the United States to deliver Protection & Control and Physical Design packages for AIS and GIS substations across utility, industrial, and data-center projects.

You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and contractors from concept through construction, mentor junior designers, and support field activities, QA/QC, and commissioning under a hybrid work policy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of substation design experience.
• Experience with P&C and physical design for AIS and GIS substations.
• Experience on 12 kV through 500 kV projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain P&C and physical design packages for substations.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and relay panel arrangements.
• Develop cable schedules and routing plans.
• Size DC/AC distribution breakers and fuses.
• Create station one-line diagrams and equipment layouts.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection engineering disciplines.
• Mentor junior designers and review deliverables for quality.
• Support construction activities, commissioning, and QA/QC.
