Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department. You will perform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programs, from development to production, using finite element methods and hand calculations to find robust, cost-effective solutions.

You will lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, travel to test sites, and help define MA&T processes and tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience; advanced degree may substitute for experience.
Experience running complex structural analysis with PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS or equivalent software.
Able to lead teams and mentor engineers; strong interpersonal skills.
Must be able to obtain U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases.
Generate test plans to validate analyses and ensure hardware compliance.
Analyze test data to validate models and generate mechanical loads.
Work with limited oversight on complex problems under cost/schedule constraints.
Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews; present results to stakeholders.
Travel to test sites to support tests or design discussions.
Lead MA&T department technical processes and tools development.
