Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department. You will lead detailed structural analyses across development and production programs, applying FE methods to deliver robust solutions while meeting cost and schedule constraints.

The role requires a BS in STEM and 8+ years, with experience in PATRAN/NASTRAN/ANSYS, ability to lead teams, and eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required.
• Experience running complex structural analyses with PATRAN/NASTRAN/ANSYS or equivalent.
• Proficiency in dynamic, static, nonlinear and transient analyses.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles for structural analysis inside and outside FE tools.
• Experience leading teams and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware against requirements.
• Analyze test data to validate models and generate loads/environments.
• Lead peer reviews and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Present results to customers and document findings in technical reports.
• Travel to test sites as needed to support design discussions.
