Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to architect, build, and operate scalable network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud. You will drive reliability, performance, and automation across global networks.

You will mentor engineers, define SLOs, and collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure high availability and robust deployment processes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience in SRE/Network engineering or DevOps.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Experience developing applications and scripts in Python, Bash, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Architecting, building and supporting solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes.
• Serving as a subject matter expert and mentor to team members, driving code quality standards and providing thought leadership on architectural decisions.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on deployment standards and updating documentation.
• Building/testing/designing automation tools (Bash scripts, Python programs, Slack bots) and working with network developers.
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud.
• Collaborating with support, operations, and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex network problems, including on-call rotations.
