Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to architect, build, and support scalable network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud. You will partner with software, operations, and compute stakeholders to drive standards, tooling, and high availability.

The role emphasizes mentoring, SLO definition, and automation using Python, Bash, Go, or Rust. On-call rotations and cross-functional collaboration are part of the job.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in Site/Network Reliability Eng, Network Eng, Software Eng, or DevOps with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software (FRR, Bird, goBGP).
• Experience developing apps and contributing to codebases using Python, Bash, Go, or Rust; CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support solutions for efficient network processes.
• Mentor team members, enforce code quality, and guide architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deployment standards and documentation.
• Develop automation tools (Bash, Python) and work with network developers.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure to ensure availability.
• Assist in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex network issues.
