Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to design, build, and support scalable network infrastructure for our Compute products and services.

You will drive standards, mentor teams, and work across software, operations, and Akamai Compute stakeholders to ensure high reliability and performance. You’ll develop automation tools using Python, Bash, Go, or Rust, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Github Actions, and ArgoCD.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems in SRE/Network/DevOps roles.
• Deep understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support solutions for efficient, streamlined network processes.
• Serve as SME and mentor to drive code quality and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deployment standards and documentation.
• Build, test and design automation tools (Bash, Python, Slack bots) and work with network developers.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure to ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with support/ops/engineering to troubleshoot complex network issues and participate in on-call rotations.
