Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to architect, deploy, and sustain scalable networking solutions for Akamai Connected Cloud. You will work across software, operations, and product teams to raise reliability and performance of global services.

You will mentor engineers, define SLOs, implement automation (Bash, Python, Slack bots), and drive deployment standards. Expect on-call rotations and collaboration to resolve complex network issues.

Qualifications

• 12 years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in Site/Network Reliability Engineering, Network or DevOps roles with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience with Linux networking and open-source software such as FRR, Bird, goBGP.
• Experience developing applications, code reviews, and scripting in Python, Bash, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor, driving code quality and architectural leadership.
• Collaborate on deployments standards and update documentation accordingly.
• Build/test/design automation tools (Bash, Python, Slack bots) with network developers.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with support, operations, and engineering to troubleshoot complex network problems, including on-call rotations.
