Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to design, build, and run scalable network infrastructure that supports Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will mentor teammates, set standards, write automation scripts in Python/Bash/Go, and collaborate with software and operations teams to ensure high availability and performance. This role demands deep TCP/IP knowledge, large-scale distributed systems experience, and the ability to drive architectural decisions

Qualifications

• 12 years relevant experience in SRE/Network roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing, and firewalls.
• Experience with configuration management tools: Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet.
• Experience with Linux networking and FRR/Bird/goBGP.
• Programming/scripting in Python, Bash, Go, or Rust.
• CI/CD with Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Architecting and building solutions for efficient processes.
• Mentoring team, driving code quality and architecture decisions.
• Collaborating on deployment standards and documentation.
• Building automation tools and collaborating with network developers.
• Defining SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud for high availability.
• Participating in on-call rotations and troubleshooting complex network issues.
