Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network in Boston to architect and support scalable network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will collaborate with software, operations, and compute stakeholders to drive standards, tooling, and reliable deployments. Ideal candidates have 12+ years in reliability or network roles, deep TCP/IP/BGP knowledge, and hands-on experience with Python, Bash, Go or Rust, plus CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions

Qualifications

• 12 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Experience in Site or Network Reliability/DevOps with large-scale distributed systems
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts
• Proficiency with configuration management tools like Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet
• Experience with Linux networking and open source software such as FRR, Bird, goBGP
• Experience coding in Python, Bash, Go or Rust and working with CI/CD tools

Responsibilities

• Architecting, building and supporting solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes
• Mentor team members, drive code quality standards and provide architectural leadership
• Collaborate across teams on deployment standards and update documentation
• Design and build automation tools (Bash, Python, Slack bots) and work with network developers
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure
• Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex network issues
