Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Principal Mobile Engineer for the Cash Line team to own the mobile stack, with emphasis on React Native and native Android. You’ll lead Android development for an approved launch plan and shape long-term mobile architecture across RN and Android.

This role combines individual contribution with technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team influence in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Remote-friendly with multiple US locations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary mobile engineer and React Native specialist for the Cash Line team.
• Lead Android development for the team’s launch and deliver milestones.
• Set technical direction for mobile architecture across React Native and native Android.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to translate roadmaps into durable mobile solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship across teams.
