Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to design and build high‑quality mobile applications using React Native. You will directly influence core servicing metrics such as Adjusted Payment Success Rate and Borrower Friction, collaborating with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that delight users and align with company goals.

This role is remote in the United States, with team time zones aligned to East/West coasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 4 years of experience in mobile engineering.
• Experience building in React Native and familiarity with native platforms (iOS/Android).
• Strong understanding of mobile performance and cross‑platform constraints.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain user‑facing features in React Native apps for iOS and Android.
• Design mobile components and subsystems that are performant and scalable.
• Collaborate with product and design to scope and launch features.
• Define mobile‑specific APIs with backend engineers and improve client‑server integration.
• Identify and resolve performance or reliability issues in mobile experiences.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
