Job summary

RTX Corporation is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for the Test Systems Engineering family in Jupiter, FL. The role focuses on designing mechanical, electrical, and physical infrastructure to support jet engine testing and capital improvements.

The ideal candidate delivers strong design, product definition, and manufacturing execution, guiding teams and collaborating with stakeholders to meet safety, budget, and schedule requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering.
• 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree with 5 years of engineering experience.
• 5 years of experience in design engineering.
• U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex design solutions independently or while leading multidisciplinary teams of design engineers.
• Partner closely with civil/structural, electrical, and project engineering teams to deliver practical, cost‑effective solutions that meet program objectives.
• Openly communicate within and outside of the Test Systems Engineering department to progress STE design and competently discuss and demonstrate the capabilities of the design.
• Lead and support technical design reviews with stakeholders and chief engineers.
• Create professionally executed product definition documentation, including drawings and models.
• Generate assembly documentation and actively lead field verification and validation plans to ensure the equipment’s compliance with design requirements.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Incorporate Engineering Standard Work (ESW) into everyday design practices.
• Support occasional domestic travel (up to 10%) for site coordination and project execution.
