Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, part of RTX, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in Jupiter, FL to lead complex design efforts for F135 base/ECU CIPTs. You will drive innovative solutions, manage producibility with vendors, and oversee ECU validation with cross‑functional teams.

You will apply 3D modeling to module-level designs, perform root-cause investigations, and mentor junior engineers. Expect 10–20% domestic travel and an onsite work environment in Florida.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree with 5+ years of mechanical-design experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions that meet program milestones.
• Lead producibility investigations with manufacturing vendors, including EFPRs both remotely and on-site.
• Lead ECU Design Validation activities with manufacturing coordination and module-integration efforts.
• Apply advanced 3D modeling tools to refine component- and module-level designs.
• Lead or support field-incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective-action implementation.
• Develop serviceable limits through advanced data-processing and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Participate in hands-on engine tear-downs at Tinker AFB.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary IPTs across design, structures, aero, HTSF, manufacturing, QA, and other modules.
• Lead or assist safety-risk analyses and risk-mitigation planning; present results to customers and program management.
• Mentor early-career engineers within the IPT/CIPT and design organization.
• Improve engineering efficiency using advanced data-mining, automated tools, and AI.
• Domestic travel of 10–20% may be required.
