Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX business, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for the Compression Systems Engineering group in Jupiter, FL. You will lead high-priority design tasks, mentor engineers, and collaborate across IPTs to advance engine components and HPC systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or advanced degree with years of mechanical-design experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.
• Experience with design of engines, HPC components and IPT/CIPT processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions meeting program milestones.
• Lead producibility investigations with manufacturing vendors, including EFPRs onsite.
• Lead ECU design validation activities and coordinate with manufacturing teams.
• Apply advanced 3D modeling tools to refine designs at component and module level.
• Lead or support field-incident investigations including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop serviceable limits through data-processing and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Participate in engine tear-downs at Tinker AFB.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary IPTs across design, structures, aero, HTSF, manufacturing, quality, and other modules.
• Lead or assist safety-risk analyses and present results to customers and program management.
• Mentor early-career engineers within the IPT/CIPT and design organization.
• Improve engineering efficiency using data-mining, automated tools and AI.
• Domestic travel of 10–20% may be required.
