Job summary

RTX, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer within Development Operations to lead test systems engineering for jet engine testing. You will guide cross‑functional teams and ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery of complex designs.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in Engineering with 8+ years in engineering and 5+ years in design engineering, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering.
• 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree with 5 years of engineering experience.
• 5 years of experience in design engineering.
• U.S. Citizen required to access certain systems or sites.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to develop and refine design objectives for Special Test Equipment.
• Develop complex design solutions independently or leading multidisciplinary teams of design engineers.
• Collaborate with civil/structural, electrical, and project engineering teams to deliver practical, cost‑effective solutions.
• Lead design reviews with stakeholders and chief engineers.
• Create professional product definition documentation, including drawings and models.
• Generate assembly documentation and lead field verification and validation plans.
• Provide coaching to junior engineers.
• Incorporate Engineering Standard Work into daily design practices.
• Assist with site coordination and travel as needed (up to 10%).
