Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Development Engineer to lead cross‑functional improvements across value streams at the Tucson, AZ site. You will develop manufacturing data packages, provide design input, and guide factory engineers to optimize producibility and performance.

The role requires a STEM degree with extensive manufacturing experience, ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance, and strength in GD&T, CAD tools, and manufacturing readiness assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Experience in manufacturing production environments.
• Experience with manufacturing process development or improvement.
• Ability to work on programs requiring special program access.
• Ability to obtain/maintain ATF clearance access.
• Ability to obtain interim Secret security clearance before start.

Responsibilities

• Develop MDPs with assembly instructions, workflow, labor standards, tools and fixtures.
• Provide technical input and peer review on designs and changes.
• Provide technical guidance and problem solving to factory engineers.
• Apply manufacturing engineering skills to resolve constraints and improve processes and designs.
• Serve as manufacturing and producibility authority within the program.
• Recommend process changes to meet cost, efficiency and quality objectives.
• Design and improve producibility with a cross‑functional team.
• Identify and resolve program constraints.
• Participate in corrective action investigations.
