Job summary

Intuit seeks a hands-on Principal Knowledge Engineer to architect the knowledge foundation for the ICs data platform and agentic intelligence layer. You will lead the knowledge architecture, governance, and a team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to prototype production-grade solutions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in data and knowledge engineering or AI/ML engineering with lead/architect experience.
• Track record of shipping large-scale data/knowledge systems in production (enterprise knowledge graphs, semantic platforms).
• Expertise in knowledge modeling: ontology, taxonomy design, entity resolution, knowledge graphs.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered and agentic systems: RAG, GraphRAG, hybrid retrieval, context engineering, agent evaluation.
• Deep knowledge of AI infra: graph databases, embedding/retrieval, cloud platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, AWS).
• Experience defining semantic layer and metrics strategy for consistency across BI/AI.
• Knowledge governance: lineage, provenance, quality, freshness, access control, responsible AI.
• Strong programming and production-code review skills.
• Pragmatic arch approach: deliver now while building toward long-term vision.
• Excellent communication to influence across business and tech teams.
• Mentoring data scientists, analysts and engineers.
• BS in CS/DS/Info Science; MS/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the agentic knowledge architecture for ICs knowledge modeled, stored, connected and served to agents.
• Architect the agentic intelligence layer: GraphRAG, hybrid retrieval, context engineering, MCP design, multi-agent orchestration.
• Define semantic layer strategy: express metrics and definitions consistently across dashboards, data agents and AI experiences.
• Lead data and knowledge governance: quality, lineage, provenance, access control, responsible AI.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions on graph stores, vector stores and tooling; document tradeoffs.
• Prototype reference implementations; write production-grade code and review designs and PRs.
• Deliver quarterly business needs while moving toward long-term architecture; avoid debt.
• Define evaluation frameworks for knowledge coverage, retrieval quality, grounding and reliability.
• Translate between business and tech: align with data leaders and operations; speak business language.
• Guide and grow the team: mentor and raise the technical bar across ICs.
