Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Principal Knowledge Engineer to architect the ICS data foundation and agentic intelligence layer. You will define the knowledge graph, ontologies, and governance, guiding data scientists, engineers, and product teams across the enterprise.

You will lead architecture decisions for graph/vector stores, retrieval patterns, and multi-agent orchestration, while delivering production-grade code and prototype solutions that scale with the business.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in data and knowledge engineering, or AI/ML engineering, incl. time as technical lead or architect on large-scale data/knowledge platforms.
• Track record of architecting and shipping large-scale data/knowledge systems in production.
• Deep expertise in knowledge modeling, ontology/taxonomy design, entity resolution and knowledge graph construction.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered and agentic systems, including RAG/GraphRAG and hybrid retrieval.
• Knowledge of AI infrastructure: vector/graph DBs, embedding pipelines, model serving, cloud data platforms.
• Experience defining semantic layer and metrics strategy for BI and AI consumers.
• Experience designing data governance: lineage, provenance, quality, freshness, access control, responsible AI.
• Strong programming skills and ability to write/review production code.
• Pragmatic, business-focused architecture balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
• Excellent communication to influence across business and engineering teams.
• Mentoring experience with data scientists, analysts and engineers.
• BS in CS/DS/Info Sci; MS/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the knowledge architecture and governance for ICS data platform and agentic intelligence layer.
• Architect the agentic intelligence layer with GraphRAG, hybrid retrieval, context engineering, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Set semantic layer strategy for consistent business definitions across BI and AI.
• Lead data governance covering quality, freshness, lineage, provenance, access control and responsible AI.
• Make build-vs-buy calls on graph/vector stores and semantic tools with clear tradeoffs.
• Build hands-on prototypes, write production-grade code, review designs and PRs.
• Deliver quarterly business needs while progressing toward long-term architecture.
• Define evaluation frameworks for knowledge coverage, retrieval quality and groundedness.
• Translate business workflows for alignment across teams and stakeholders.
• Mentor teams of data scientists, analysts and engineers and raise the technical bar.
