Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Principal Knowledge Engineer to own the knowledge architecture and governance for its ICs data platform and Knowledge Graph.

You will guide data scientists, data professionals, and engineers while staying close to code to prototype and unblock the team. You will define patterns for retrieval, reasoning, and multi‑agent orchestration, set semantic layer strategy, and lead governance to ensure trusted, compliant sources.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in data and knowledge engineering or AI/ML engineering.
• Track record architecting and shipping large‑scale data/knowledge systems.
• Deep expertise in knowledge modeling, ontology and taxonomy design.
• Hands‑on experience with LLM‑powered and agentic systems (RAG, GraphRAG).
• Deep knowledge of AI infrastructure: vector/graph DBs, cloud platforms, and their tradeoffs.
• Experience defining semantic layer and metrics strategies.
• Experience governance including lineage, provenance, quality and responsible AI.
• Strong programming skills and ability to write/Review production code.
• Pragmatic architecture balancing short‑term needs with long‑term vision.
• Excellent communication and the ability to influence without authority.
• Experience mentoring teams of data scientists, data professionals and engineers.
• BS in CS/DS/Statistics/InfoSci; MS or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the agentic knowledge architecture and governance for ICs data platform and Knowledge Graph.
• Architect the agentic intelligence layer for retrieval, reasoning, and multi‑agent orchestration.
• Set the semantic layer strategy so business metrics and definitions are consistent.
• Lead data and knowledge governance for quality, freshness, lineage, provenance and responsible AI.
• Make build-versus-buy calls and document tradeoffs for graph stores, vector stores and tooling.
• Build hands‑on; prototype reference implementations and review code and designs.
• Balance near‑term business needs with long‑term architecture and debt reduction.
• Define evaluation frameworks for knowledge coverage, retrieval quality and groundedness.
• Translate business needs for alignment across teams and stakeholders.
• Mentor data scientists, analysts and engineers and raise engineering standards.
