Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Principal Engineer - Engineering Services to lead detailed engineering designs for high voltage substation and transmission projects through 500 kV. The role requires advanced engineering knowledge and the ability to coordinate across multi-discipline teams.

A PE license is preferred or obtainable within six months; expect significant client interaction, mentoring of engineers, and up to 50% travel across the U.S. market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE license preferred or must be obtained within 6 months.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years of related work experience in the T&D industry.
• Extensive knowledge of high voltage substation design and protection/controls.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead relay protection and control engineering on substation and transmission projects.
• Provide technical leadership on complex engineering problems across multiple projects.
• Interface with customers, project teams, and stakeholders to present and discuss designs.
• Review vendor drawings and sign off on testing reports for major equipment.
• Support proposals, estimating, procurement and construction activities.
• Mentor and coach junior team members and coordinate with design phase managers.
