Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Power Delivery Design Phase team in the pre-construction lifecycle. You will own the electrical scope from initial customer contact through hand-off to operations, coordinating with proposals, estimating, contracting, and design teams.

You will serve as the single point of contact with customers, trade partners, legal, and leadership, advancing design plans, schedules, and compliance across approximately 18 months of

• Strong communication and negotiation skills; interfaces with customers, land owners, legal, and senior leadership.
• Ability to balance multiple concurrent workstreams across a long (approximately 18-month) pre-construction cycle.
• Experience coordinating with buyers and supply chain for material/equipment planning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the electrical single point of contact in support of projects in Design Phase.
• Take a defined scope of work and engage external trade partners to solicit and evaluate bids.
• Engage and lead customers through conceptual plans and layouts to finalize Scopes of Work.
• Create and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for milestones.
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process.
• Participate in design meetings and help shape the project approach to align with commercially viable solutions.
• Coordinate with buyers and supply chain to align with project needs.
• Assist with project proposal development and prepare bid packages for subcontractors.
• Handle sequencing considerations, land constraints, and other site-specific planning factors.
• Support system level studies (short circuit, reactive power, load flow, harmonics, TOV, TRV).
• Review drawings for constructability, accuracy, and code compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations to ensure design decisions carry through to field.
