Job summary

Mortenson Engineering Services is seeking an Engineer III – Protection & Control to join our team. This role focuses on technical control design for high voltage substation projects through 500 kV, collaborating with engineering and design staff to coordinate packages and requirements.

Responsibilities include relay protection and control engineering for substation and transmission projects, one-line, schematic, panel elevations, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting, and supporting proposals,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4+ years of related work experience in the T&D industry.
• Experience in protection & control design including one line, schematic, and wiring diagram design.
• Substation experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience researching engineering/design issues and presenting recommendations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• EIT certification or PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for relay protection & control engineering on substation and transmission designs.
• Perform one-line designs, schematic designs, panel elevations, wiring diagrams, and system troubleshooting.
• Review and approve equipment vendor drawings with Lead Engineer or Manager.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and design phase managers to deliver projects.
• Provide engineering support for proposals, estimating, procurement, and construction.
• Assist field personnel in resolving site conditions.
• Ensure documentation adheres to Mortenson QA/QC procedures.
