Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Principal Engineer - Engineering Services to lead advanced engineering designs for high voltage substations and transmission projects through 500 kV. This role requires extensive expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to interface with multiple stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant designs.

The successful candidate will guide teams on complex relay protection and control, coordinate with design phase managers, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related program required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license expected or can be acquired within 6 months.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for relay protection & control engineering on substation and transmission design projects.
• Act as a technical specialist applying advanced engineering concepts to complex problems.
• Interface with customers and project teams to present design solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on large and small projects across 69 kV and above.
• Review equipment vendor drawings and sign off on testing reports.
