About the role
As a Principal Engineer you will lead the development and evolution of thermalhydraulics (T/H) analysis methods and tools for reactor components, including strategy for modernization and efficiency improvements.
You will report to the Manager Advanced Analysis and Methods and be located at Cranberry, PA with the flexibility to work in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the application and selection of analysis tools (e.g., CFD, 1D flow network models), ensuring appropriate methods are used for each engineering challenge
- Partner with systems engineering, safety analysis, and other technical teams to integrate data, improve workflows, and ensure analytical consistency across departments
- Mentor engineers in thermalhydraulics fundamentals, analysis best practices, and build organizational capability
- Lead the resolution of complex, ambiguous engineering problems by identifying risks, developing execution plans, and driving solutions to closure
- Encourage thoughtful adoption of AI‑enabled engineering tools to improve productivity, quality, and traceability
- Lead multifunctional technical projects
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS). Consideration given to degrees in Nuclear, Aerospace, Chemical or related Engineering fields with significant thermalhydraulic experience
- 5+ years of experience with Thermal Hydraulic Analyses and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and associated modeling approaches
- 5+ years providing technical leadership—either as a principal individual contributor or as leader of a small engineering team
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or 8 years with an advanced degree
We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,000 to $129,000 per year.
