Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. seeks a Principal Business Development Engineer to identify, develop, and secure new opportunities in Defense and Aerospace, focusing on nontraditional defense subcontractors for prime contracts.

You will expand strategic relationships, support proposals, and drive revenue growth aligned with corporate objectives. The role requires DoD and government contracting expertise, strong communication, and travel up to ~35%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience, including at least 5 years supporting U.S. Government, prime contractors, or Defense & Aerospace.
• Strong understanding of the DoD acquisition process, government contracting requirements, and FAR/DFARS regulations.
• Demonstrated success identifying, pursuing, and winning business with government agencies, prime contractors, or major defense accounts.
• Strong relationship management skills with customers, partners, government stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Effective negotiation skills, solid contract knowledge, and financial acumen for pricing, proposals, and decisions.
• Willingness to travel ~35% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across Defense and Aerospace markets, including government agencies, prime contractors, and Tier 1 suppliers.
• Build understanding of customer needs, market trends, and areas for future growth.
• Maintain trusted relationships with customers, partners, government contacts, prime contractors, and industry stakeholders.
• Support the full customer engagement process from early opportunity development through proposal, capture, and contract award.
• Partner with BU teams on proposals, pricing, and negotiations to secure programs and revenue growth.
• Coordinate with BU leadership, engineering, legal/contracts, and executives to align BD efforts with goals and revenue targets.
• Represent the company at meetings, industry events, and trade shows to strengthen market presence.
