Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Principal Archaeologist to lead archaeological projects from Austin or Houston, TX. You will oversee Phase I–III surveys across Texas, Louisiana, and nearby states, support permitting and compliance for infrastructure projects, and serve as a cultural resources principal investigator.

You will work with an experienced team, contribute to environmental documents, and advance CRM efforts while meeting regulatory standards and client needs.

Qualifications

• CRM experience with 10+ years (15+ preferred).
• Experience leading primary report authorship with QA of field docs, forms and reports.
• Phase I, II, III cultural resource surveys for linear or large projects.
• Understanding of Texas Antiquities Code, NHPA, NEPA; DOI standards (preferred).
• Experience preparing proposals for private/public clients.
• Ability to work 40+ hrs/week, on varying schedules.
• Texas Antiquities Permit as Principal Investigator.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify cultural resources for environmental permitting.
• Prepare NEPA documents (EA/EIS) and related reports.
• Provide primary authorship and QA of CRM documents.
• Coordinate with state and federal resource agencies.
• Data management and post-field curation.
• Conduct archaeological site inspections and deep testing.
• Business development.
• Prepare technical documents and permit applications.
• Fieldwork up to 30%; Overnight travel up to 30%.
