Job summary

Greenpoint Technologies in Texas seeks a senior mechanical design engineer to create complex aircraft modification layouts for air systems, HVAC, and safety equipment. You will ensure fit, form, and function meet customer specs, FAA rules, and project budgets using CAD tools.

You will develop system schematics, select materials, and collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for cost and producibility. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; 8+ years relevant experience; aviation background preferred.
• Strong CAD skills with Inventor and AutoCAD; knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 standards and design-for-manufacturing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Designs complex modifications of mechanical systems installations.
• Designs system schematics and architecture to meet requirements and function of system.
• Analyzes and interprets subsystem and project specifications.
• Selects materials based on structural needs and specifications; collaborates with suppliers and tests materials.
• Works with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize designs for cost, manufacturability and quality.
• Ensures designs meet FAA requirements and customer criteria; adheres to budgets and schedules.
• Provides design mentorship and liaison engineering support.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of mechanical design practices and CAD tools.
