Job summary

Save the Children in Opelousas, LA is seeking a Head Start Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate preschool activities. You will supervise the classroom, ensure compliance with federal/state regulations, and build strong partnerships with families to support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

The role reports to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion, may supervise assistants, and requires an associate degree in early childhood

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development or related field.
• Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with teams.
• English proficiency (spoken and written) and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans for preschoolers.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Document observations and assessments; maintain portfolios.
• Engage families and conduct conferences and home visits.
• Ensure active supervision and safety for children throughout the day.
