Job summary

The Olympia School District seeks a Paraeducator-Special Education Preschool to assist certificated staff in implementing IEP plans and goals across settings. The role involves data collection, creating instructional materials, and supporting health-related needs for students with special needs.

The position emphasizes collaboration with staff, confidentiality, and fostering a positive learning environment while engaging in required trainings and certifications as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and when applicable ETS Exam OR 72 quarter or 48 semester credits OR an Associate's degree.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
• Experience with young children who qualify for special education.
• Participation in health-related trainings. First Aid/CPR may be required.
• Willingness to obtain Type II License or Food Handlers Permit as needed.
• Right Response Certification or willingness to obtain and maintain.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff with IEP plan development, including behavioral assessments and goals.
• Assist with creating educational materials to support IEP goals.
• Collect and communicate data on student progress.
• Administer first aid and address health care needs as necessary.
• Maintain student files to support appropriate education programs.
• Monitor students to provide a safe learning environment and implement accommodations.
• Support other staff to implement student programs and duties.
• Collaborate with staff to evaluate progress and implement objectives.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Facilitate student independence in instructional settings.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings to improve skills.
