Job summary

Oak View Group in Hartford, CT is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our fast-paced kitchen. You will prepare menu items, manage mise en place, and ensure quality and timely delivery to guests while maintaining sanitation standards.

The role pays an hourly rate of $18.00-$20.00 and offers part-time hours with benefits such as 401(k) plan and matching. Candidates with prior prep cook experience and knowledge of food safety are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook experience is highly preferred.
• Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife.
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with staff and guests in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state/federal regulations.
• ServSafe preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests.
• Prepare mise en place for hot and cold items per recipes and prep lists.
• Work as a team to ensure excellent service and delivery of products.
• Report maintenance needs for kitchen equipment.
• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards.
• Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking.
• Portion, arrange, and garnish plates for delivery to guests.
• Consult with Executive Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food usage.
