Job summary

Oak View Group in Nebraska is seeking a Prep Cook to support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, following recipes, and maintaining stocked, sanitary workstations.

You will perform mise en place, handle labeling and storage, assist with cooking steps, and uphold food safety standards while working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

This part-time role pays $17.00 to $20.00 per hour, with benefits including a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant, hospitality, catering, concessions, or food service environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and culinary terminology.
• Ability to follow recipes, preparation instructions, portioning guidelines, and daily prep lists accurately.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to safely use knives, kitchen equipment, and other food preparation tools.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests.
• Prepare mise en place for hot and cold food items according to company recipes and daily prep lists.
• Wash, peel, chop, slice, and measure fruits, vegetables, and meats according to recipes and daily prep lists.
• Label, date, and store all food items properly using the FIFO (first-in, first-out) method.
• Set up and stock workstations with the necessary tools and ingredients before service.
• Perform initial cooking steps like parboiling and reducing sauces.
• Monitor stock levels and report low items or waste to the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
• Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product.
• Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
• Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
