Job summary

SCA Health is actively seeking a Registered Nurse in the PreOp/PACU role to support perioperative care at our facilities. The RN will assess patients before and after surgery, interpret monitors, and develop individualized care plans to optimize recovery and safety across anesthesia recovery phases.

The position requires a nursing degree from an accredited program, valid state licensure, and BLS/ACLS (PALS if pediatric care is involved) within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to policies.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe underlying pathophysiology of common diseases.
• Apply discharge criteria for patient transfer.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement care plan for anesthesia recovery in various settings.
• Provide hand-off reports to team members.
• Document nursing care completely and accurately.
• Collaborate with other disciplines as needed.
