Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the PreOp/PACU team in Newport Beach. You will assess patients pre- and post-operatively, interpret monitors, and develop individualized perianesthesia plans to support safe recovery across anesthesia modalities.

Ideal candidates have nursing licensure in good standing, ACLS/PALS as required, and at least one year of PreOp/PACU or ED/ICU experience. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, precise documentation, and collaborative care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre-Op/PACU experience preferred; candidates with a minimum of two years of ED or ICU experience will also be considered.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standing.
• Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
• Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if pediatric care is included, within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to facility policies (cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort, mental status).
• Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it during recovery from anesthesia (general, MAC, regional, local).
• Manage patient recovery from anesthesia and ensure safety in positioning, thermal protection, and wound integrity.
• Provide hand-off reports, document nursing care, and collaborate with the care team; participate in quality review and performance improvement.
