Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Genetic Counseling Assistant to provide administrative and clinical support to a team of genetic counselors serving pregnant patients. Under supervision, you will assist with coordinating genetic testing, managing results, and maintaining medical records to ensure efficient, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics, or related life sciences preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience working with patients in healthcare or medical office is preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and records management is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the status of established genetics patients, including tracking pending clinical work-up and follow-up activities.
• Review clinic schedules to identify patients who may require prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Serve as a liaison between referring providers and the genetic counseling team to facilitate communication and care coordination.
• Support the coordination and delivery of cancer and prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Collaborate with laboratories, genetic counselors, clinicians, and other stakeholders regarding genetic testing, referrals, sample collection, status updates, and follow-up.
• Communicate with patients regarding appointments, testing, and other care-related needs under the direction of the genetic counseling team.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Assist with research initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and educational projects as needed.
