Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Genetic Counseling Assistant to provide specialized support to genetic counselors and program physicians in delivering coordinated care to patients and families at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Your role includes managing patient lists, coordinating prenatal counseling, and supporting testing coordination, with opportunities to contribute to research and educational projects within a collaborative care team.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience working with patients in a medical setting is preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, test requisitions, and pathology reports
• Familiarity with community resources available to support patients and families
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Empathetic, patient-focused approach with strong customer service skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, providers, laboratories, and care team members

Responsibilities

• Manage established genetics patient lists and monitor status of pending clinical workups
• Review schedules to identify patients who may benefit from prenatal genetic counseling and coordinate communication between referring providers and the genetic counseling team
• Support development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of reproductive genetic counseling services
• Coordinate genetic testing, track results and delays, facilitate referrals, and support sample collection with laboratories and clinicians
• Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, providers, and other care team members
• Contribute to research initiatives, educational programs, and other projects that support genetic counseling services
