Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Genetic Counselor Assistant onsite at 32 Fruit Street in Boston to support a team of genetic counselors serving pregnant patients. The role focuses on coordinating genetic testing, communicating results, and maintaining accurate medical records to ensure efficient, patient-centered care.

You will learn reproductive genetics workflows and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and lab staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, genetics or related field preferred.
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
• One to two years of experience working with patients in healthcare or medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the status of established genetics patients, including tracking pending clinical work-up and follow-up activities.
• Review clinic schedules to identify patients who may require prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Serve as a liaison between referring providers and the genetic counseling team to facilitate communication and care coordination.
• Support the coordination and delivery of cancer and prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Collaborate with laboratories, genetic counselors, clinicians, and other stakeholders regarding genetic testing, referrals, sample collection, status updates, and follow-up.
• Communicate with patients regarding appointments, testing, and other care-related needs under the direction of the genetic counseling team.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record.
