Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with carbon arc gouging and FCAW welding electrodes (1/16" and 3/32" diameters).
• Ability to pass a 1" weld certification test (positions 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G) within 90 days.
• Proficiency in interpreting welding blueprints and performing precise welds to meet quality standards.
• Solid understanding of welding safety protocols and applying them in a shop environment.
• Strong math skills for measurements, calculations, and tolerances in fabrication.
• Excellent problem-solving and mechanical aptitude for maintaining welding equipment.
• Ability to work well in a team and manage individual workload to meet deadlines.
• Commitment to continuous learning in welding technologies and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in Carbon Arc Gouging and Oxy/Fuel Torch operations for precise cutting and prep work.
• Interpret weld symbols accurately and read technical prints and blueprints.
• Operate rigging equipment and overhead cranes safely with certification compliance.
• Fit and layout components for accurate welding preparation.
• Use a broad range of electrodes and adapt techniques to materials and specs.
• Perform carbon arc gouging with precision for repair and fabrication quality.
• Achieve weld certifications in line with Komatsu Quality standards.
• Apply advanced mathematics for measurements and fabrication challenges.
• Interpret complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables for project accuracy.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances during inspection and setup.
• Maintain detailed reports and records to support data collection.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude in reading machinist measuring instruments for quality control.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with welding practices and safety.
