Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a skilled Welder (Shop) to execute precise metal cutting, welding, and fabrication tasks in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will read complex prints, set up fittings, and operate overhead cranes safely while maintaining high quality standards. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands-on welding experience with FCAW and carbon arc gouging, strong math skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 3+ years with carbon arc gouging and FCAW electrodes (1/16" and 3/32").
• Pass a 1" FCAW weld cert in positions 1G‑4G within 90 days.
• Proficiency reading weld symbols and blueprints to spec.
• Solid weld safety knowledge and shop practices.
• Strong math for measurements and fabrication.
• Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment and tooling.
• Team-oriented with ability to work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate carbon arc gouging and oxy/fuel torch operations for precise metal prep.
• Interpret weld symbols and read technical prints accurately.
• Safely operate rigging equipment and overhead cranes; maintain certifications.
• Perform fitting and layout before welding to spec.
• Use a range of welding electrodes and adapt to material specs.
• Achieve weld certifications per Komatsu Quality standards.
• Apply math and handbook formulas for precise fabrication.
