Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a Welder (Shop) to join our onsite shop operations. The role emphasizes carbon arc gouging, FCAW welding, blueprints interpretation, and precision fabrication in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with overhead cranes, rigging, and a variety of electrodes, ensuring safety and quality while contributing to repairs and fabrication projects across multiple facilities. This position requires a 1G–4G weld test within 90 days and a commitment to ongoing skill

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience with carbon arc gouging and FCAW electrodes (1/16" and 3/32").
• Ability to pass a 1" weld certification test in 1G–4G positions within 90 days.
• Proficiency in interpreting welding blueprints and performing precise welds to meet quality standards.
• Solid understanding of welding safety protocols and shop practices.
• Strong math skills for measurement and fabrication specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving with mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
• Ability to work in a team and manage individual workload to meet deadlines.
• Commitment to continuous learning in welding technologies and techniques.

Responsabilités

• Demonstrate expertise in Carbon Arc Gouging and Oxy/Fuel Torch operations for precise metal cutting and prep.
• Interpret weld symbols and read technical prints and blueprints accurately.
• Operate rigging equipment and overhead cranes safely per certification requirements.
• Fit and layout components before welding with accuracy.
• Use a broad range of electrodes and adapt techniques to materials and specs.
• Perform carbon arc gouging to support high-quality repair work.
• Obtain weld certifications aligned with Komatsu Quality standards.
• Apply advanced trade math to solve measurement challenges.
• Interpret drawings, specs, charts, and formulas for project accuracy.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Analyze and maintain detailed reports and records for team communication.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude in reading machinist tools for QC.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with welding technology and safety.
