Job summary

Amrize, a leading provider of construction materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Screed Operator in the Asphalt division. The role requires setting up and operating the screed to achieve precise grades, slopes and mat thickness on highway and commercial projects.

You will coordinate with the paving crew, monitor asphalt flow and temperature, perform routine equipment checks, and uphold safety standards on active sites. Daily travel is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt screeds on commercial or highway projects.
• Daily travel required with reliable transportation.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans, layout markings, and grade profiles accurately.
• Knowledge of screed setup, adjustments and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate asphalt screeds to achieve grade, slope, and mat thickness on highway paving projects.
• Read plans and layout markings to ensure precise paving results.
• Monitor asphalt flow, temperature, and placement for consistent quality.
• Coordinate with paver, roller, and lute operators to maintain workflow.
• Identify and fix surface irregularities and compaction issues.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance as needed.
• Ensure compliance with highway safety regulations and traffic control plans.
• Maintain clean work areas and support paving crew.
• Commit to health, safety and environmental policies on site.
