Job summary

Amrize, a leading construction materials supplier in the United States, is seeking a Screed Operator for our Asphalt division. You will set up and operate the screed to achieve precise grades, slopes, and mat thickness, delivering smooth, durable asphalt surfaces on highway and commercial projects.

Requirements include 2–3 years of hands-on screed experience, the ability to read project plans and grade profiles, daily travel, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years hands-on experience operating asphalt screeds.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and grade profiles.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate asphalt screeds to achieve proper grade, slope, and mat thickness on highway paving projects.
• Read and interpret project plans, profiles, and layout markings to ensure precise paving results.
• Monitor asphalt flow, temperature, and material distribution for consistent surface quality.
• Coordinate with paver, roller, and lute operators to maintain smooth workflow and production schedules.
• Identify and correct surface irregularities such as bumps, low spots, or uneven compaction.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor troubleshooting as needed.
• Ensure compliance with highway safety regulations, traffic control plans, and job site protocols.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas while supporting the paving crew for efficient operations.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
